Despite the fact that these beliefs are so deep-seeded, here’s the good news: if you’re unhappy with where you are, if want to improve your outcomes, and even if you want to transform your life, you can focus on your belief system and CHANGE it!

Our Belief System:
The moment we were born, we didn’t know any rules, and we had no beliefs… we were a total blank slate. But we were born with the capacity and inclination to develop beliefs and agree to certain rules. Who taught us these rules? Maybe our parents. Maybe we learned them in school. Maybe we learned them from experiences on the playground with other children. In these early parts of our lives, we didn’t have the opportunity to choose what we wanted to believe, we just listened to whatever an adult said and the beliefs became deeply engrained in our minds. In his book “The Four Agreements,” Don Miguel Ruiz calls this “The domestication of humans.” He says “We train our children whom we love so much in the same way that we train any domesticated animal: with a system of punishment and reward.”
We’ve seen these scenarios play out over and over again. Maybe the parents of a child who was destined to discover to the next greatest invention told her that she shouldn’t waste her time and that she couldn’t do it. Maybe the smartest kid in class was bullied for being a “nerd” or a “loser.” Or maybe the kid who got a 1.8 GPA was brilliant in other aspects of his life but didn’t pursue his talents because he was told he was “dumb” and believed it.
Discovering who we are and what we’re capable of is difficult enough, so when we allow these types of negative outside influences form the basis of our belief system, it can block our progress and prevent us from overcoming obstacles in our lives … or even from being who we truly want to be.
How to Change:
We control and affect “who” we are simply by the words that we say to ourselves repeatedly. Many philosophers and great achievers – from Buddha to Aristotle, from Andrew Carnegie to Steve Jobs – have repeated this concept over and over, and they’ve utilized the techniques below to manifest amazing successes in their own lives.
The early 20th century philosopher James Allen is often quoted as saying “You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you.” That means that by starting today – right now actually – you can transform yourself into whoever you want to be in the future!
Here’s one small but incredibly effective trick to get started immediately. Once you put this information into action, you might find that it’ll change your life forever. The idea behind this trick is to program your subconscious mind to believe what you’re saying about yourself is true. The more we communicate with our subconscious, the stronger the thoughts will begin to take hold and manifest in our lives, so repetition is key! 1. Say “I AM” and follow it with whoever you want to be. For example, you can say… ”I AM a leader, I AM Powerful, I AM strong”
2. The more you say these words to yourself the more likely these results will manifest into your life. Remember, consistency is key! Know that this process will likely take years, not days.
3. When you repeat these affirmations, say it with conviction, meaning, and passion. Look yourself dead in the eye in the mirror and repeat your statements out-loud with conviction and authority … “I AM a leader, I AM powerful, and I AM strong!
While it’s incredibly powerful, this technique is not a cure-all, and it won’t solve all the problems in your life. You will always have challenges and obstacles to overcome in the future. But when those challenges and obstacles arise, your mind will be ready to handle them in a strong and powerful way!
So the choice is always yours… to take action or not. Everything you’ve experienced in life so far – poverty or riches, success or failure, health or illness – is the result of first the thoughts in your own mind followed by action and purpose set in motion by you, and nobody else.
